David Balague came the ballpark and meant business on Friday, driving in five on one hit to lead Capuchino Mustangs Varsity past Archbishop Riordan 13-2 on Friday. Balague drove in runs on a home run in the first, a walk in the second, a walk in the sixth, and a fielder’s choice in the seventh.
Capuchino Mustangs Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Capuchino Mustangs scored two runs when Balague homered.
Capuchino Mustangs scored five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Capuchino Mustangs Varsity was led by Balague and Kenny Osterlund, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Devin Meyer earned the victory on the hill for Capuchino Mustangs Varsity. He surrendered two runs on four hits over five innings, striking out four. Conor Meehan threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Capuchino Mustangs Varsity socked two home runs on the day. Balague went deep in the first inning. Osterlund put a grand slam out in the sixth inning.
