San Bruno-Capuchino finally got a chance to celebrate the New Year as the Mustangs snapped out of their shooting doldrums to turn back the Hillsdale Knights, 59-48 Friday night at the Homer Zugelder Gym.
The win snaps Capuchino’s two-game losing streak and improves the Mustangs to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in PAL league play. The knights drop to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Capuchino came into the game as one of the best shooting three-point shooting teams in the CCS ranked (7th) and the team didn’t disappoint nailing 10-of-24 three –points on the game. Marquez Moseke led the scoring with 20 points with AJ Macreag chipping in with a cool 14 points himself. Bryce Delmacio 7 points on the game and Cruise Thompson 5 points on the game continue to provide steady guard play off the bench for the Mustangs.
Mustangs Fall to Woodside, 63-51
Capuchino got a career high from Marquez Moseke 24 points but Woodside used a dominant inside game to come away with an 63-51 Pal League opening win.
“I thought our guys did what we asked of them to do, especially in the first half, but we got into some foul trouble in the second half and became passive and it was an uphill climb from there,” said Cap head coach Marty Ruiz.
Cap will return to its home court this Fri night Jan. 20, 2017 versus arch-rival Mills for yet another four game quad. Tickets are available at the door and the Girls basketball team will be running full snack bar for the big game.
