Multiple Teams · MUSTANGS HANG ON TO EARLY LEAD IN WIN OVER MILLS

MILLBRAE, Calif. —The Capuchino boy’s varsity squad defeated the Mills Vikings 46-37 in their first rival match up of the season. This marked the team’s first win over the Vikings since 2005.

The Mustangs led the Vikings 12-4 after the first quarter and would hold the lead for the remainder of the game.

Capuchino senior, Jarod Pasqual drained a three pointer before the end of the second quarter, securing the Mustang lead 20-14. Pasqual contributed 9 points to the Mustang victory.

Lucas Magni opened the third quarter with a swish beyond the arc, but Mills responded with two three pointers for themselves cutting the Mustang lead to 3 points.

With the Vikings unable to make a basket within their final possession of the third quarter, Capuchino headed into the final quarter up by 6 points

Brian Grealish began the fourth quarter with an offensive rebound and put back. His defensive effort kept Mills from shortening the Mustang lead, finishing the game with 9 rebounds.

The remainder of the fourth quarter consisted of Viking fouls on Magni, sending him to the line six times. Magni completed the game with 22 points, 12 of which came from three point shots.

Friday’s victory brought the Mustangs to a 3-3 record in league play and 9-9 overall.
